Amigurumi Snowman

Amigurumi Penguin
We've been fortunate here in Colorado basking in 60 degree weather while much of the nation is frigid.  Maybe that's why I felt like making an Ami Snowman.  My sister has already put in a special order for my nieces, one with a pink scarf, one with a blue one.  I was lazy and used a pipe cleaner for his nose.

Thank you for the free pattern, [info]peaseblossom

A Penguin Study

Amigurumi Penguin
I'm going to try to post this today after having problems with the pic a couple of days ago. So here it goes....

I thought some of you might enjoy this picture of my Amigurumi penguins.

I taught myself how to crochet a year ago. The penguin on the left was my first project. Ten months later, I decided to crochet the same pattern. Only this time, I used a crochet hook one size smaller and I was crocheting correctly. (Not through one loop only.) I was surprised and amused how much smaller and nicer looking my newest penguin was.

The little one was given away as a Christmas gift. I will always keep the big one to remind me of my beginner days.

A couple of weekends ago, we got our pic taken with an 8 month old baby tiger. She was sweet. Her fur was coarse and she weighed about 40 PBS .

This was a pretty quick project made from a pattern from Sap Planet Original's Etsy shop.

I'm giving this to my mother for her birthday. She loves Oriental things.

Spooky
Hi, everyone, I've been crocheting since the beginning of this year. I have to say that I am HOOKED!

I have been cranking out zillions of little beings but until yesterday, I had a crappy camera. Now that I have a better camera that is easier to use, I hope to post more pics.

Even though I haven't been much of a blogger, I thank those of you who take the time to share your inspiring projects. It keeps me going.

The ghosts are from the Mr. Boo pattern in Etsy.com and the pumpkins were from a free crochet pattern website.

I taught myself how to crochet this January and have been dabbling in it over the months. This project is a fun & easy one. It is stuffed with rice in the bottom & fiberfill in the top. The "sprinkles" are pins. I thought this would be a perfect pin cushion. I'll be making more of these for our vet's Needy Pet Fund sale in December.

I'll take better pics with the better camera later.

Missed Anniversary

Madison
I feel bad. I just realized that I missed the 1 year anniversary when we had to put Madison to sleep. It was March 20th. This year it fell on the first day of Spring. It was a very pretty day & I was busy with work things. I'll try not to be too hard on myself and tell myself that it is better to remember the first day I saw him instead of the last.

That day was in 1998. Don and I were going on our first date and I went to his apartment to make things easier. Don opened the door and there in the living room was Madison with Felix peeking behind the rocking chair. Who would have known that we would share many years together?

Here's to you, Madison, our beloved "poo-poo head!" Thanks for sharing part of your 20 1/2 years with me.

I saw The Police in 1983 at Mc Nichols Arena in Denver. I paid $12.00 for a ticket that was 12th row on the floor. I was looking at tickets to see them this summer up at Red Rocks. I could have gotten Row 6 for ONLY $250.00 a ticket. WOW!!

Tonight I thought I would relax by learning a new crochet technique. I finally figured it out and completed a small project. I'll post pics later.

As if that was not enough, I sat down on my computer afterwards and learned how to convert YouTube videos to MP4 format for my Ipod. My first experiment was Amy Winehouse at the Grammy's. Everyone at my work hated her performance and how she looked. They thought she was drugged out of her mind, so in an act of rebellion, I added her to my Ipod. ha, ha! She's actually not that bad!

Big Island U2
Colorado Springs finally got their first L&L Hawaiian BBQ. I've been there 3 times in 3 weeks. We were fortunate on our last trip to the Big Island. There was an L&L within a mile of our timeshare. We ate there a bunch that week. Great authentic local food for a decent price.

I can feel another Kanak Attack coming on!

Buster
Mom invited us over on Wednesday for dinner because she said I sounded so sad after losing Buster. Don picked me up and we drove down to the house together. It was a nice visit. My sister, Cecilia, was there with our niece, Harmony, who was in town for a few days. Lots of hugs when we got there and when we left. It sure did help to lift our spirits, at least, for a little while.

Even Yuckier Week

Buster
Well, if you have been reading Don's blog, you know we unexpectedly lost Buster this past Tuesday. Nothing like having what looks like a totally fine pet and then having to put him to sleep 12 hours later. It's been pretty hard. Just when I thought I was handling the passing of our cat, Madison, in March and my Dad in April, this comes out of the blue. I felt like the rug was just pulled out from under me.

I just tell myself that there's nothing that can be done about it and I somehow have to come to terms with this. I'm am glad I have Don to lean on or I wouldn't get through this.
